Architected and built our employer-client portal, our system for accommodating Safe Harbor transfers, and am currently overhauling the monthly fees system for scalability.
As the project has matured my time has shifted harder towards planning and architecture but I still spend most days writing code.
In the first half of 2024 I led our adaptation to the UK government's replacement of the Lifetime Allowance with the Lump Sum Allowance, a serious regulatory change with hard deadlines and many interconnected systems to coordinate. Ran meetings, designed the replacement, planned the migration, and coordinated the team alongside our product manager.
Selected for Team US, a small delivery team assembled from across the company to build our US product from the ground up. Worked under tight deadlines set by our partner State Street until public release of our MVP at the start of 2025.
Greenfield stack: TypeScript across Node + Next in an NX monorepo, Postgres on Supabase via Prisma, hosted on Heroku. Salesforce as CRM, but — learning from the UK side, where Heroku Connect syncs SF-owned data into our Postgres — we kept data ownership in the Node app and exposed HTTP endpoints for Salesforce to call.
On a team that small everyone touches everything; the features I owned end-to-end were contributions, Roth accounts, monthly fees, and the retirement calculator.
Worked as part of the team delivering the scheduled drawdown feature. I was able to accelerate delivery by simplifying our KYC requirements.
Rewrote part of the calculation engine and template for our annual statements to handle scheduled withdrawals.
Temporarily returned to property work during the first COVID lockdown.
12-week intensive software bootcamp, completed just before the UK entered the first COVID lockdown.
Project-managed renovations and conversions. Managed several rented properties around the city (maintenance, tenant changeover, mediation between tenants and owners). Left to retrain in software.
